Off Ice Ballet for Skaters with Madra

Mondays 5:40-6:25pm

Class will focus on stretching, movement, and ballet

Ages 8 & up or with instructor approval

Two off ice passes or $15 walk in

 

Off Ice Conditioning and Core with Reen

Wednesdays 5:45-6:15pm

Class will focus on plyometrics, conditioning, and core exercises

Off ice pass or $7.50 walk in

 

On Ice Spins with Grant

Tuesdays 6:30-7:00pm

Class with focus on all aspects of spins from basics to creative variations

Sign up as Learn to Skate Class - $12.50 per week ($75 for 6 week session)

 

Off Ice Jump Technique and Conditioning with Carrie

Saturdays 10:15-10:45am

Class will focus on jump exercises & technique, conditioning, stretching, and creative movement

Intro to Axel Class with Michelle

Saturdays 11:30-12:00pm

Class will focus on axel exercises for skaters learning their axels

Skaters need to be able to do all single jumps in combination and have a strong back spin

Axel Class with Michelle

Saturdays 11:00-11:30am

Class will focus on axel exercises for skaters learning and beginning to land their axels

Strongly recommended that skaters have taken Intro to Axel Class

Michelle Lauerman, Skating Director

Hometown: Overland Park, KS

Coaching since 1997

As a skater, Michelle has passed her Senior Moves in the Field, Junior Freestyle, and Bronze Dances and competed at Regionals and Collegiate Nationals.  As a coach, Michelle has taken skaters through their Senior Moves in the Field and Intermediate Freestyle tests and has taken skaters to local and regional competitions.   She holds the following PSA Ratings: Certified Free Skating, Certified Moves in the Field, Senior Group, and Certified Program Director.   Specialty disciplines include: Free Skating, Moves in the Field, and Choreography.   Michelle has four years experience as a Program Director.  She is currently serving her third year on the US Figure Skating Basic Skills Sub Committee and is the current Vice President of the Heartland Figure Skating Club Board.  Michelle has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  Michelle is a USFS Registered Coach and a PSA CER Category A Compliant Coach.

Heather Edmonsond

Hometown: Springfield, MO

As an adult skater, Heather has passed her Adult Silver Moves in the Field and Freestyle Tests.   Heather competed in Adult Nationals in 2002 & 2003.   She has her Bachelor’s and Masters in Physical Education and has 18 years experience teaching middle school girls PE and 12 years experience as head coach of middle school track and volleyball.   Heather is a PSA and US Figure Skating member and is on the board member of the Heartland Figure Skating Club.

Carrie Greene

As a competitive skater, Carrie trained and competed with the DuPage Figure Skating Club in suburban Chicago.  She was a regional competitor in both Freestyle and Figures.  Carrie specializes in teaching all levels and ages of both competitive and recreational skaters.   Her students that compete at Local and Regional and Adult National Competitons.   Her specialties include Freestyle Jumps, Spins, Footwork, Moves in the Field, Choreography, Power Stroking/ Edge Quality for Figure Skaters and Hockey players.  Carrie has worked as a volunteer for the US Figure Skating Basic Skills program training other coaches how to teach the USFS's Basic Skills. Carrie holds her Registered Free Skating and Registered Moves in the Field Ratings from the PSA.  She is a Registered Coach through USFS and is PSA CER Category A Compliant Coach.  Carrie is educated in health, fitness, and nutrition in order to help her students achieve their athletic potential both on and off the ice.    Carrie has a BA in Marketing and Management from Southern Illinois University.

Katie Holmes

Hometown: Olathe, KS

Coaching Since 1995

As a skater, Katie competed at the U.S. Nationals in Junior Dance.  She has had competitors at local & regional competitions, U.S. Junior Nationals at well as at Adult Nationals. Katie has passed her Intermediate Moves in the Field, Gold Dances, 3 International Dances, Junior Free Dance, and 3rd Figure Test.   As a coach, she has taken skaters through their Juvenile Freeskate Test, Adult Gold Moves in the Field Test, Senior Moves in the Field Test and International Ice Dances.   Katie instructs all ages in Ice Dancing, Moves in the Field, Footwork, Edge Quality, Power Skating, and Low Level Freestyle.  She also holds her Certified Group and Certified Dance Rating with the PSA. Katie is a PSA Member and a US Figure Skating Registered Coach. Katie has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism from KU. She is also a Boy Scout Ice Skating Merit Badge Counselor.

Grant Huang

Hometown: St. Louis, MO

Coaching Since 2003

Grant is the 2011 National Junior / Senior Masters Champion.   He holds his Registered Free Skating and Registered Group Ratings from the PSA.  Grant is a double gold medalist in Moves in the Field and Free Skating.  He has also passed his Bronze Dances, Juvenile Pairs, and ISI Freestyle 8 tests.  His specialty areas include spins, footwork, and choreography.  Grant has his Master in Architecture from the Universtiy of Kansas and also studied ballet, modern dance, and hip hop.  Grant is a registered coach with USFS and is a PSA CER Category A Compliant coach.

Jennifer McPike

Jennifer competed at the Senior Level in Synchronized Skating.  Jennifer has passed her Senior Moves in the Field, Pre-Gold Dances, and Juvenile Freestyle Tests.  She is a PSA Member and a US Figure Skating Registered Coach.  Jennifer’s specialties include Synchronized Skating, Moves in the Field, Ice Dancing, & Freestyle.  Jennifer is a Senior in High School.

Jessika McPike

Hometown: Platte City, MO

Jessika was a Senior Bronze Medalist at the 2007 U.S. Synchronized Skating Nationals as well as at the 2007 Prague Cup as part of Team USA Synchronized Skating.  Jessika has passed her Senior Moves in the Field, Silver Ice Dances, 2 Pre-Gold Dances, and Juvenile Freestyle Tests.  She is a PSA Member and a US Figure Skating Registered Coach.  She coaches Learn to Skate, Moves in the Field, Freestyle, and Synchronized Skating.  Jessika is a Pharm. D Student at the UMKC School of Pharmacy.

Alisa Moralez

Hometown: Kansas City, MO

Coaching Since 2010

Alisa skated competitively for 10 years, 4 of those in Denver and at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.  She became a gold medalist in freestyle at age 15 and competed at Regionals.   She has taught all levels of learn to skate and is available for both competitive and recreational private lessons with her specialty being freestyle.    She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Pyschology and is a PSA and US Figure Skating member.  Alisa is very excited to pass on her experience and all that she has learned to those who share a passion for the sport.

Michelle Noyes

Hometown: Colorado Springs, Co

Michelle skated for 10 years with the Broadmoor Figure Skating Club, performing in ice shows and taking lessons from Olympics coaches.   As a skater, Michelle competed at Regionals and passed her Juvenile Freestyle test.   Michelle made guest appearances in the Ice Follies and Ice Capades and skated in a Norelco Skating Commercial.  Michelle is the current President of the Heartland Figure Skating Club.

 Reen Patterson

Under the Canadian Figure Skating Association, Reen passed her Junior Bronze Dance, Second Figure, and Bronze Free Skate Tests.   Reen was a competitive skater for 10 years.   Reen teaches tots through adults and is currently accepting both recreational and competitive skaters.   Reen is a member of the PSA and is a US Figure Skating Registered Coach.   She also holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene and is a certified strength coach.

Jessica Zhang

Hometown: Kansas City, MO

Coaching Since 2007

Jessica is a triple gold medalist, having passed her Senior Freestyle, Senior Moves in the Field, and Senior Dance tests.   She is a Senior level competitor in freestyle and ice dance.    She is currently studying Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Physics at UMKC.    Jessica is a member of US Figure Skating and the PSA.
